Welcome!

by

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I’m Stacey, I’m 23 years old and I’ll be keeping you up to date with all the latest news on global poverty. I’ve been on two volunteer trips to Africa in the past few years, so I’ll also be posting some highlights from my travel journals. I’ve got 6 sponsored kids, so I’ll be writing about the personal aspects of child sponsorship as well. Please contact me if there is anything in particular you would like me to post about – I hope to be here for a long time and would love to get some long-term readers! Well I’d better get started - hope to see you back here soon!

    Hello Stacey!

The ‘mother and child’ video on your website is totally heartbreaking. What can we do? Is it that we’re not doing enough or are the African countries not allowing us to help. Enough people seem to care - why is more not being done?
    Keep up the good work!

About Global Poverty Monitor

Poverty. Famine. War. It's all around us, in the news, the papers and on every second documentary you see. But what is the real truth? Are things really as bad as we're told - or are they worse? And what really can be done? Some people think believe the only way to help is to donate money to large relief comporations, and let them decide where it is best spent. Others prefer a more personal approach - choosing which projects and causes to support. But are we really in a position to make such decisions? How do we determine who is needy and who isn't? Read about these issues and more from someone who is just as confused as the rest of us, but who is determined to find out.
